San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) has officially approved Rim of the World Unified School District’s 2024–2025 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Rim of the World Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2024–2025 LCAP at the June 27, 2024 Board Meeting in Open Session. What is a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)?
The short (and technical) answer is, “A Local Educational Agency’s (LEA) Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is an allocation and program plan for the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)” but you can essentially think of it as the District’s three-year plan for:
- Setting goals and detailing the actions the District will take to improve student outcomes across the District.
- How the District will increase or improve services for high needs students.
- How the District will spend its budget allocated by the state of California (LCFF dollars) to reach those desired student outcomes.
Each LCAP shall consist of the following:
- LCFF Budget Overview for Parents
- LCAP Annual Update
- Plan Summary
- Engaging Educational Partners
- Goals and Actions
- Increased or Improved Services for Foster Youth, English Learners, and Low-income students
- Action Tables
- Instructions
Rim’s LCAP Development Process
Prior to approving the plan, the district worked to engage the community to solicit feedback and help inform the development of the LCAP. These efforts included:
- Ongoing Throughout School Year: Regular LCAP Community Meetings open to the public to receive feedback, input, and help inform the creation of the LCAP. These meetings were attended by Rim students, families, Rim employees, and community members.
- May 24, 2024: Scheduled a Public Hearing on the LCAP, with a draft of the plan made publicly available online and at the District Office.
- June 06, 2024: Held a Public Hearing on the LCAP at the June 06, 2024 Board Meeting.
- June 27, 2024: Held a Public Presentation of the LCAP at the June 27, 2024 Board Meeting prior to voting on the action item.
- June 27, 2024: Approval of the drafted LCAP plan for the 2024–2025 school year. The Board unanimously approved this in Open Session.
- August 22, 2024: San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) approved Rim’s 2024–2025 LCAP.
